Shakib gets his fifth and the players are shaking hands, means Maruma won't come out. Was a length ball and Ngarava went for the cut only to edge it to the keeper
Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh, 1st ODI at Harare, ZIM v BDESH, Jul 16 2021 - Match Result
Tamim Iqbal has broken the record for most ducks (19) in ODIs for BAN, going past Habibul Bashar's 18
Shakib has become the top wicket-taker for BAN in ODIs with 274 wickets, going past Mortaza's 269
That's all from our side. See you soon.
Tamim Iqbal: I thought Zimbabwe bowled exceptionally well in the first 15 overs but the way Liton and Mahmudullah batting and then Afif was really good. And they pulled us out from the difficulty. I thought we bowled well, I wasn't thinking too much about the surface. We bowled to a plan, Shakib got five. If you don't bowl to your plan, the wicket isn't going to help you. Miraz also batted well because we had lost two quick wickets and would have finished with 20-30 runs fewer.
Liton Das, the Player of the Match: I am really happy. Initially the pitch helped the bowlers but I managed well in the first 15-20 overs. After that the wicket was good to bat on. Mahmudullah gave me good support and that was really helpful. I am fine now.
Brendan Taylor, who gets a memento for his 200th ODI: Not a day I wanted for my 200th. It's been a long road with lots of ups and downs. That's the difference between the two sides, they top-order batsmen are quite skilled and we couldn't match them even though the young guys are trying hard. The guys have done a lot of work, think they need to be a bit mentally stronger and the momentum will shift. A quick turnaround, so it's not about getting to the nets tomorrow but about switching off.
4.00pm A 155-run win for Bangladesh but more importantly they pocket ten World Cup Super League points. Zimbabwe once again squandered a strong position, first with the ball and then with the bat when Taylor and Chakabva were batting. But once Shakib removed Taylor, there was little help for Chakabva from the other end. In all, only three Zimbabwe batters reached double figures. Losing a batter to injury didn't help either. Shakib became the leading wicket-taker for Bangladesh in ODIs on his way to a five-for.
