Wisden overview
Pervez Mir's career peaked early and petered out in relative disappointment. A middle-order batsman and fast-medium opening or first-change bowler, he made his debut for Lahore aged 17 and after a good season for Pakistan Universities in 1974-75 (more with the bat than the ball) he was picked as an allrounder in the 1975 World Cup squad where he played in Pakistan's first two matches. He was recalled for one match against England during their 1977-78 tour, but thereafter did not come close to selection. He continued to play with success for Lahore, and had two brief spells in county cricket in England. After the World Cup in 1975 he joined Derbyshire, playing one match, and in 1979 was on the books at Glamorgan where, again, he played once. After retiring from first-class cricket he returned to England, playing for Norfolk.
