Lionel Cann was a strapping allrounder and a good fielder with plenty of words for opposing batsmen. He won Bermuda's Cup competition with St Georges in 2006 and struck an unbeaten 49 in an unbroken partnership of 134 with Irvine Romaine - a national record - in Bermuda's stirring victory against Scotland in the World Cricket League in February 2007 and despite suffering from the flu he topped the Bermuda averages with 47.75 in the competition. While his value to the side was proven, he was no stranger to controversy, with bans resulting from his on-field indiscipline and disputes with the board over a variety of issues dogging his career. He quit after Bermuda failed to qualify for the 2011 World Cup.
