Barbados v Guyana, Carib Beer Cup semi-final, Bridgetown, 2nd day

Campbell and Hinds prop up Barbados

Wisden Cricinfo staff

February 28, 2004

Barbados 138 for 3 (Campbell 57*, Hinds 48*) trail Guyana 310 (Sarwan 121, Chanderpaul 81; Collins 4-85) by 172 runs
Scorecard

Sherwin Campbell and Ryan Hinds put Barbados back on track after they made a disastrous start to their innings, in reply to Guyana's first innings total of 310. At stumps on the second day at the Kensington Oval, Barbados were 172 in arrears, with Campbell and Hinds having added 88 for the fourth wicket.

Campbell batted a shade under four hours for his unbeaten 57, after Damodar Daesrath dismissed both openers - Kurt Wilkinson and Martin Nurse. Daesrath had also done his bit with the bat, hitting 51 from 107 balls as Guyana added 62 more to their overnight total of 248 for 7.

He added 40 with Vishal Nagamootoo for the ninth wicket, as Barbados were kept in the field till the stroke of lunch. Pedro Collins was the pick of the Bajan bowlers with 4 for 85 from his 25 overs.

After lunch, Barbados quickly slumped to 29 for 2, with Nurse caught behind and Wilkinson lbw. And despite the stout resistance from Campbell and Hinds later in the day, Barbados - easily the outstanding side in the series - had much to do to match Guyana's total.
