†PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES 1988-89

At Hobart, December 17

15-Apr-1990
At Hobart, December 17. West Indies won by 17 runs. Toss: Pakistan. After the match had been reduced to 43 overs a side, owing to morning rain, West Indies finished up after a slowish start with a score which would have been a good one even in a 50-overs game. Haynes's hundred (112 balls, one six, eight fours) was his twelfth in one-day internationals, a world record, and a second-wicket partnership of 145 in 23 overs between him and Dujon brought another lacklustre performance by Pakistan in the field. In reply, against some testing bowling on a cracked pitch, Pakistan were 26 for three after fourteenth overs. By the time Salim Malik and Miandad opened out, it was too late for Pakistan to stage a winning recovery, though 162 from the last twenty overs represented a brave attempt. Imran struck five fours and a six while making 37 from nineteen balls.
Man of the Match: D. L. Haynes. Attendance: 3,882.
