Lara drops out of PwC top ten

Brian Lara has dropped out of the top ten of the PwC Ratings of Test cricketers for the first time since 1994

PricewaterhouseCoopers
04-Dec-2000
Brian Lara has dropped out of the top ten of the PwC Ratings of Test cricketers for the first time since 1994. A run of poor form over the last six months has seen him plunge from number one to number twelve in the batting list.
One of the players who has moved above Lara in the Ratings in the last week is Andy Flower of Zimbabwe, whose unbeaten double century against India lifted him to second in the batting - by far the best rating ever achieved by a Zimbabwe player. Flower is one of the unsung batting stars of current Test cricket, averaging over 50 over his entire Test career yet rarely spoken of as a world class player. His recent form can surely leave nobody in any doubt. Also up into the top ten is England hero Michael Atherton, who like Flower saved his side from the threat of defeat, this time with a gritty display in the second innings at Faisalabad.
In the bowling, Glenn McGrath holds on to the top place he regained last week despite another strong performance from Shaun Pollock who is second. Brett Lee continues to pick up points (though he remains in sixth place). In the long-standing tussle between England's leading bowlers, Darren Gough has overtaken Andrew Caddick after the latter failed to take a wicket in the second Test.
