Hussey to replace injured Bevan in VB Series squad

Cricket Australia today announced that the National Selection Panel (NSP) has chosen Western Australian batsman Michael Hussey to replace the injured Michael Bevan in Australia's 13-man VB Series squad.

Cricket Australia today announced that the National Selection Panel (NSP) has chosen Western Australian batsman Michael Hussey to replace the injured Michael Bevan in Australia's 13-man VB Series squad.
Hussey, 28, who has captained Australia A but is yet to represent Australia, will join the national squad today ahead of its match against India in Perth on Sunday 1 February.
New South Welshman Simon Katich, meanwhile, will replace Ricky Ponting in the squad for Sunday's game.
Commenting on Hussey's selection, NSP Chairman Trevor Hohns said: "Michael Hussey has been knocking on the selection door for some time and we believe he deserved this opportunity.
"His form as one of the ING Cup's leading run-scorers this summer has been excellent and it is clear that he has played a big part in the Warriors' strong limited-over performances to date.
"We will sit down and review the squad following the match in Perth as the side moves into the finals series," he said.
Hussey has scored 326 runs from five ING Cup innings this summer at an average of 81.50, including a hundred against New South Wales' Speed Blitz Blues at North Sydney Oval in November.
