fuller ball, straight, and he plays this towards short mid-wicket, and Afghanistan have won!
Afghanistan vs West Indies, 2nd T20I at Lucknow, WI in IND, Nov 16 2019 - Match Result
Gulbadin Naib and Zadran's 44-run partnership is AFG's highest for the 7th wicket in T20Is, breaking the record of 43 between Mohammad Nabi and Karim Janat
10.41pm That's that from us. Join us for the final game tomorrow, with everything on the line. This is Debayan Sen, bidding you farewell on behalf of Saurabh Somani and Thilak Gowda
Rashid Khan: "The dew doesn't change much, but we have a world-class bowling and we can defend 140+. If you look at the first game, when they had a good start, it's the kind of wicket, where the batsmen will hit some runs, but sometimes they will struggle. Our plan was to get to 140+ and then defend this. (On Sunday) This was a much-needed win for us. First win on this tour, and we have some great momentum for the final, and that's what we need to do."
Karim Janat is the player of the match. Speaks to the broadcasters through Rashid Khan: "First of all, thanks to the crowd for being here and supporting us. I was outside as the 12th man, and that was the best opportunity for me to learn what should be the line and plans. I had a plan in mind and that's what I did. When batting,I got an idea of what is the right line and length. I was trying to hit the good length area, and on this wicket, change of pace is a good weapon to have."
Kieron Pollard speaks at the presentation: "At the halfway stage, we were happy with 147. Their batsmen came hard at us, but we came back well, especially Kesrick. We cannot fault the bowlers. We didn't get a good start in the Powerplay, and we lost wickets every time we were trying to be aggressive. You know what I won't speak about (the umpiring) but it is what it is. We just have 24 hours to wrong the rights, and hopefully we come back and do those things right tomorrow. 1-1 is a virtual final tomorrow, and you'd want to see how the guys react tomorrow. Happy times for us in terms of how we have played through this series. We need to have conversations on what to improve on for tomorrow."
Sudheer: "Someone rightly predicted Ramdin innings would be crucial for this match outcome. And indeed it is!!"
Morvin Willliam: "Where is Pooran when Windies need him."
10.27pm What a performance this has been from Afghanistan. They took the brave call of batting first and it would seem they read this pitch to perfection. Got a brisk start, but then wound up scoring about 20 runs short of what the start had promised. However, their bowlers clearly took some good notes on what needs to be done on this pitch, and their slower balls and lengths bowled helped pick wickets repeatedly. Shimron Hetmyer was the first of Karim Janat's five victims, and admittedly got a stinker of a leg-before decision against him, with the ball having pitched well outside leg. But Afghanistan played this smartly, and will return in a few hours from now to compete for the T20I series title!
length, slower ball, and he swings this across the line, and Rashid Khan takes it at the deep mid-wicket fence! Decent contact from Walsh, as he finally latches on to the slower one, but sends this higher than far enough, and Rashid calls early to take this ahead of the man at long on. Naib almost gets into his bodybuilder pose, with arms crossed, and then signals to Walsh that hitting him across the line for six was just not on
Naib smiles, in appreciation of his finishing skills, one would imagine
fuller, still wide outside off, and Walsh has a mighty swing at it. Nowhere near the ball
slower ball, outside off. A bit too wide outside off, and called a wide
Changes his angle
These are the best figures in T20Is against West Indies, though. Beats Imad Wasim to that landmark
slower, short ball, and he swings this again in the same direction. Takes more of the edge and goes towards long leg as a result. One bounce to the fielder stationed there
short, and he moves across the crease and gets it down towards fine leg. No protection there for Naib
Zalmi kakar: "Is jannat the first Afghan player to take a fifer in T20i?" --- No, he's the third. Here's the full list
short, slow and he hits it hard but back towards the bowler
slower ball, around leg stump, and he swings this towards deep mid-wicket. Fielded by the man at deep square leg
Nabi, watching from the dugout, claps for his team mates
short, moving away from Walsh, who looks to back away to the on side, and ends up looking at an ungainly heave across the line
fuller, faster, and he hits it hard into the ground, but straight back at the bowler
LaiqKhan RH: "What is the best bowling figure for Afghanistan in T20I?" --- Rashid Khan took 5 for 3 against Ireland in 2017
slower ball, angles across him, and he plays at this a bit early. Misses it as it wobbles away to Gurbaz
fuller, angles into him, and he plays this towards deep square leg. Janat is the fielder to get to it first
short ball, outisde off, and he has cut this away over short third man. Too little, too late, one would think...
Naveen
Afghanistan's second-best figures in T20Is. What a time to have done that for Karim Janat, as he has kept this series alive, surely?
length, played towards point. Wants a single, but turned back
wide outside off, and drives to cover. Takes the fielder on, and a direct hit would have been close, but he gets through
Shiva Jayaraman tells me this is Afghanistan's fourth five-for in T20I cricket. Rashid Khan (twice) and Samiullah Shinwari were the others to have done it before Karim Janat
full, and he plays it back towards the bowler
full, and just outside off, and Walsh hits this towards extra cover
looks to bowl a slower ball from the back of the hand, and gets it all wronng. Pitches well outside the tramlines on the off side
Around the wicket
five for Janat! Another full ball, just outside off, and Paul goes for an almight heave. Off the inside edge, and on to the base of off-stump. Janat is pumped, as he should be. It's been a fine team effort, but he is by far the Afghan individual that has stood out
slower ball, just outside off, and he plays it wide of cover for a single
Janat to bowl out
