Antigua Cricket Association upset over Kerry Jeremy's Omission

The Antigua Cricket Association (ACA) wishes to register its deep disappointment over the omission of Kerry Jeremy from the training squad selected to prepare for the forthcoming tour to the West Indies by the Indian Cricket Team.

Kerry's 39 wickets at an average of 17.63 represents the best performance by any fast bowler in the Busta Cup competition in 2002, and his achievement of 85 wickets, in a mere 15 matches, over the past three years (2000 - 2002) is also unmatched by any other fast bowler in the region. There is therefore no plausible reason for his omission. In fact, on the basis of the statistics, an irrefutable argument can be made that he should have been an automatic selection.

It is therefore troubling to us, and we suspect to all fair-minded cricket followers in the region, that the Selectors overlooked this young man of 22 years especially at a time when our bowling in general, and our fast bowling in particular seems to be at its lowest ebb.

As a stakeholder of West Indies Cricket, we are calling on the relevant authorities to act decisively in remedying this situation, which clearly contradicts the Board's stated policy of rewarding excellence.

Meanwhile, the ACA showered congratulations on debutant fast bowler, Adam Sanford. The ACA along with players and teams participating in its domestic tournaments wish to congratulate Adam Sanford on his outstanding performance in his debut first class season, and his selection to the West Indies training squad preparing for the upcoming Test series versus India.
