Ball-by-Ball Commentary

Match State: Day 1 start Match scheduled to start at 1000 hrs IST (0430 hrs GMT)

       Good Morning!
Welcome to the Exclusive Live Coverage of the third and final Test
        match between India and England.
India lead the three Test series 1-0, after winning at Mohali and
drawing the second test at Motera.
It is quite a cold morning in Bangalore and dark clouds are
hovering around. There is some breeze now, which is blowing the
        clouds away.
The light is very poor at this moment.
Bangalore is just above a 1000 metres from the sea level. This city
is also known as the 'garden city'.
It is indeed a great place for a game of cricket, with low level of
humidity and the max temp at this time of the year hovers around
        the mid-twenties.
India and England have played two Test matches at this venue so
        far.
In 1977 Tony Greig's team lost to India by 140 runs and in the year
1981 Keith Fletcher's side drew the Test match.
The flood lights are on. The match shall start at 1000 Hrs IST,
        0430 Hrs GMT every day.
The news on toss is that Hussain has won the toss and England will
        bat first.
England are going in with an unchanged side, while India play the
extra spinner in Sarandeep Singh, making way for the young off
        spinner is Tinu Yohannan.
       The teams are as follows:
India: SS Das, +D Dasgupta, R Dravid, SR Tendulkar, *SC Ganguly,
VVS Laxman, V Sehwag, A Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, J Srinath,
Sarandeep Singh, 12th man CC Williams.
England: MA Butcher, ME Trescothick, *N Hussain, MP Vaughan, MR
Ramprakash, A Flintoff, C White, +JS Foster, AF Giles, RKJ
Dawson, MJ Hoggard, 12th man U Afzaal.
There is a chill in the air, must be to the liking of the visitors
The forecast is for some rain during the week as there is a low
pressure building up in the Bay of Bengal.
The crowd is slowly building up and cheering on, they want to see
some action in the middle very soon
With the flood-lights being switched on, The Chinnaswamy stadium
        looks beautiful.
Probably this is the first time a Test match is going to start
        under artificial light.

Match State: Lunch - Day 1

Just 26 overs bowled in the session. Hussain has looked most
        comfortable today.
England winning the toss and batting first, is looking to build up
a big score as Hussain mentioned yesterday.
The rains have stayed away from the Chinnaswamy stadium, there has
been little bit of drizzle through the session.
The crowd has had enough to cheer about this morning. Srinath
picked up the wicket of Trescothick, snapped up by Laxman at
second slip, Trescothick playing a nothing shot
Butcher was the next man to dismissed, a terrible mix up with his
skipper and his effort to get back to his crease was in vain,
Dravid picking up the ball and hurling it to Dasgupta
The lights are still on. The conditions are a bit overcast, which
        should help the swing bowlers.
Anil Kumble is still on 299 Test wickets.
It has been a good session of cricket in this beautiful city of
        Bangalore.
We will be back with you at 1240 Hrs IST, 0710 Hrs GMT. Do join us

Match State: Tea - Day 1

England are consolidating here in Bangalore. Ramprakash (33*) and
Vaughan (56*) are at the crease
They have so far added 83 valuable runs in the afternoon for the
        fourth wicket
The only wicket to fall was that of Nasser Hussain (43) caught
        behind off Srinath.
Mark Ramprakash had a lucky escape even before he could open the
account. The batsman was shocked to see a long hop outside the
off, Laxman at silly point must have been petrified at the sight
of Ramprakash going back to smash the ball.
All Ramps could do was push the ball right through Laxman, who did
not move an inch or go for the simple catch.
The running between the wickets has been excellent, Vaughan has
grown in confidence to make a half centruy. Ramprakash has looked
so assured on this tour and is batting with such ease.
For India though, the bowlers have toiled without much success.
Kumble still looking for the 300th Test wicket does not look that
menacing. Harbhajan Singh has been guilty of bowling a bit too
        short.
The players are enjoying the cup of tea on this cold Wednesday
afternoon. The sun has not made an appearance all day along, the
        floodlights are still on.
We will be back with you in just about five mins at 0930 Hrs GMT,
        1500 Hrs IST

The umpires discuss for bad light

The Indian fielders have to follow now!
As it has been many times, this post tea session has been a good
        one for India
They have picked 3 wickets so far in this session
The slide started after Vaughan picked up a ball off his pads with
his hand and was given out rightly!

That is the end of a most eventful first day's play at Bangalore
Although the expected - Kumble's 300th Test wicket, did not happen,
there were enough on field events to keep people on their toes
On winning the toss and batting, Hussain's England started off well
before Srinath removed Trescothick and Hussain.
A doughty partnership of 113 for the fourth wicket between Michael
Vaughan (64) and Mark Ramprakash (58) took England to a healthy
position at 206/3 before a wicket fell against the grain of play
In rather unusual circumstances Michael Vaughan was given out
        handled the ball
A Sarandeep Singh delivery struck Vaughan on the pads and bounced
down at his feet. Vaughan instinctively stuck his hand out,
smothering the ball before tossing it aside
The Indians appealed and Vaughan was on his way. The umpires were
well within both the rules and the spirit of the game in giving
        Vaughan out handled the ball.
At the end of the day however, England made it to 255/6, with
Andrew Flintoff (0) failing to make an impression yet again.
The second day's play should be an absorbing one and once more we
shall have to wait and see if Kumble makes it to 300 Test wicket.
As they say however, the longer the wait, the sweeter the reward!

England have done reasonably well to get to 336 after losing those

       That is tea on day-2

Match State: Tea - Day 2

India are 42/2 at Tea, still trailing by 294 runs, Das (11) and
Tendulkar (16) are at the crease.
Interesting session of play, India cleaned up the English tail in
just about 20 mins after lunch, which included the 300th Test
wicket for Anil Kumble, which has been the highlight of the
        session
Dasgupta hung around for 14 minutes and seven balls and did not
open his account, caught by Trescothick of a fiery Flintoff
Dasgupta failed to open his account and it must have been tough for
him to go out to bat soon after being in the field for 511 mins as
        a wicket keeper.
VVS Laxman once again was brought up the batting order to number
three. He played some rousing shots, threatening to take the
        attack apart.
Flintoff had the last laugh though, a fast delivery shattering the
        wood-work!
Laxman once again disappointed this big crowd.
Tendulkar came out and has been at ease, playing shots that only he
        can play.
Das scored five runs off the first two balls he faced and added
just six more in the next 50 balls. The pressure told...
Ashley Giles bowled a beautiful delivery, a thick inside edge on to
the pads and went up in the air, James Foster took a wonderful
catch, almost everybody was convinced that Das was out, not the
man who matters most, umpire de Silva!
There is a lot for the bowlers on this pitch, India might be
regretting the fact that they played just one fast bowler
That is all we have for you from Bangalore, it is time for a cup of

India has scored 50 runs in 100 mins this morning and lost the
        wickets of Dravid and Ganguly
Tendulkar is unbeaten on 77 and Sehwag is on 20
Matthew Hoggard has been the star of the morning. After his first
spell of 6-3-16-0 last afternoon, he was not given a bowl for a
        long time
In a brilliant spell of swing bowling, he plucked out the wickets
of Dravid and Ganguly and should have had the wicket of Sehwag,
        half a dozen times
Dravid scored three singles in his 61 balls stay, before edging one

        bowling of Andy Flintoff.
Hoggard and Flintoff picked one wicket each today and then the
icing on the cake was a brilliant run out by Michael Vaughan!
England have taken the first innings lead, 98 runs to be precise.
If the weather stays good, we will have 34 more overs today.
Another 105 overs tomorrow, if the rain stays away
A result looks highly unlikely here in Bangalore, but then you
never know with the game of cricket.
India will definitely miss the extra seam bowler, Srinath being the
        only one to bowl fast.
Since there has been no big deal of sunshine in Bangalore, the
pitch has not cracked as much as it was expected, there is
something in this for the fast bowlers.
The ball is doing something in the air, and it promises to be a
good contest when England comes out to bat again.
They will be looking for some quick runs and possibly give
themselves a chance of bowling India out again.
Srinath is already out there along with Kumble, loosening up, a few
quick wickets will put the pressure right back on the tourists.
