Ball-by-Ball Commentary

Match State: Match start scheduled for 14.30 local time (9am GMT)

       Good Afternoon!
Welcome to CricInfo's Exlusive Live Coverage of the sixth and final
        ODI between India and England.
We are at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
It is a warm and humid afternoon here in Mumbai - it is a sell-out
crowd here for the day-night encounter.
Mumbai is the commercial capital of India as well as the Cricket
        capital of India too.
Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar hail from this city, which is
located on the west coast of the peninsula
England and India have met just once at this venue, way back in
        1987 - Reliance Cup (World Cup) Semi-finals
England won that encounter by 35 runs after Graham Gooch had swept
        his way to make 115.
The eventual winners of that World Cup, Australia - are fighting it
out against South Africa at the WACA in Perth, right now, for a
place in the VB Series final.
England has won the toss and are batting first.
India has made one change, Harbhajan Singh comes in for Sarandeep
Singh. England are going in with an unchaged side.
       The Teams:
India team: SR Tendulkar, V Sehwag, * SC Ganguly, D Mongia, M
Kaif, HK Badani, +A Ratra, AB Agarkar, A Kumble, Harbhajan Singh,
        J Srinath.
England team: ME Trescothick, NV Knight, *N Hussain, MP Vaughan,
GP Thorpe, PD Collingwood, A Flintoff, +JS Foster, AF Giles, D
        Gough. A Caddick.
India leads the series 3-2 and this is going to be an exciting
match. England will be looking to finish the tour on a winning
        note.
Sachin Tendulkar has done well at his home ground, averaging 51.00
with the bat. Tendulkar has hit one century and two fifties in six
        outings here.
India has played 10 ODIs at Wankhede Stadium and has a 6-4 record.
Play is about to start, Marcus Trescothick will take strike,

Match State: Innings Break

England were 218/9 after 42.1 overs, the last wicket pair of
Flintoff and Gough added 37 valuable runs off seven overs
England won the toss this afternoon and elected to bat.
They were off to a shocking start, losing Knight for a duck. Nasser
Hussain and Trescothick attacked the Indian bowling, no bowler was
        spared.
Agarkar went for 17 runs off his 4th over. Trescothick was in
amazing form, striking the ball cleanly, the lofted extra cover
drive was played with remarkable ease.
Hussain adn Trescothick's running between the wickets was simply
amazing. They stole singles all over the place, making Indian
        fielding look very average indeed.
Hussain (41) pulled a long hop from Ganguly to the deep mid-wicket
fence and the catch was well taken by Harbhajan Singh.
Vaughan came out to join Trescothick and never looked too
        comfortable in rotating the strike.
He was the third wicket to fall, after making just 16 runs. Vaughan
walked down the track to heave a six in to the Arabian Sea off the
bowling of Ganguly, Ratra removed the bails in a flash.
From a reasonably good position of 153/3 at the fall of Vaughan, a
major collapse was to be witnessed at the Wankhede
It was that man again, they call him the Turbanator - Harbhajan
        Singh picked a 5-er
Thorpe (6) was stumped, Trescothick's brilliant innings of 95 came
to an end when he gave an easy return catch to Harbhajan Singh.
Collingwood (2) was brilliantly caught by Sehwag at mid-wicket,
Giles (0) was caught by Sehwag at slip.
James Foster (13) gave a return catch to Harbhajan Singh to make it
the fifth wicketfor the off spinner.
Caddick (7) was the ninth man out, caught by Kumble off Tendulkar
        with the score on 21.
Flintoff (40) and Darren Gough (16*) took England past the 250
        mark.
Harbhajan Singh excelled with the ball, 10-1-43-5

England finish the series off on a winning note, winning by five
        runs, series levelled at 3-3
It has been an amazing run chase, the pendelum swinging from one
        side to the other.
India had the match all sealed up with their skipper Sourav Ganguly
going great guns. It was his dismissal, bowled by Giles after
making 80 runs that turned things around.
It was again a high pressure match, a closely fought one that is.
Hussain and his men showed remarkable spirit to comeback strongly
        and win this match.
After trailing 1-3 in the ODi series, England came back to level
it, which says a lot indeed.
India went out to bat chasing a target of 256 runs. Sehwag and
Tendulkar was as always in punishing mood. Caddick took some stick
        in his initial overs.
Sehwag played some cracking shots and was beaten a couple of times
        by the outswinger.
Darren Gough does bowl the outswinger to perfection and it was one
of those that did the trick, Tendulkar (18) caught behind!
Ganguly came out to bat and showed some urgency with regard to
running between the wickets, there were a few quick singles
rotation of strike suffered a lot and Sehwag found himself out of
        strike for a while.
This lack of flow of the adrenalin was bound to hit Sehwag (31)
sooner or later and he went for a biggie, only to top edge an easy
catch to Thorpe at mid-on off the bowling of Caddick.
The presentation ceremony is on. Ganguly thinks that his team is a
bit inexperienced and would have learnt a lot.
Hussain is very happy indeed and says that Flintoff's innings this
        afternoon made all the difference.
Along with Gough, big man Flintoff added 37 valuable runs for the
        last wicket.
Denis Lindsay, the Match Referee is going to name the Man of the
        Match.
       It is Marcus Trescothick!
he scored 95 off just 80 balls
The Man of the Series: Sachin Tendulkar
Michael Vaughan bowling his brand of slow off spin proved to be
        very effective this evening.
Vaughan tied the batsmen down and effected the downfall of Mongia
        (20), stumped by Foster.
The LG Cup 2002 is being awarded to Hussain and Ganguly, they share
        the it too
       Mongia made 35
Ganguly was bowled gy Giles, the ball hitting him on the body and
then his bat and goingon to disturb the stumps, it was a freak
dismissal, but good enough to upset the Indian applecart
Mohd Kaif (20) lost the plot completely and was caught by Hussain
        off Andrew Flintoff.
Ajay Ratra gave a simple catch to Vaughan at square leg off the
bowling of Caddick, and the catch was dropped. It might have
proved to be a very costly error.
Vaughan came back strongly to dismiss Ratra (8), caught by Giles at
        mid-wicket fence
Ajit Agarkar (0) had no clue at all of a sharp rising delivery from
        Caddick, edging that to Foster.
Harbhajan Singh (5) was caught by Collingwood off a fiery Flintoff
Kumble too was brilliantly run out by Flintoff, a diving effort to
hit the stumps off his own bowling
Javagal Srinath was yorked with the very first ball and Flintoff
had finsihed off a good tour of India.
Badani remained unbeaten on 27, but his efforts were not simply
good enough. Badani struggled along in the initial stages, which
helped mount the pressure in the death.
Andrew Flintoff was simply superb, 9.5-1-38-3
The big allrounder should have been the Man of the Match
England can go home happy that they didnt lose the series. And wait
for Indians to make it to England this summer.
India will take on England at Lord's on June 29th in their first
        ODI in the triangular series.
They are to play a 4-Test series, the first Test starting on 25th
        July at Lord's.
