County news Yorkshire given pavilion planning permission September 5, 2008 Yorkshire have been granted planning permission for a new pavilion at Headingley in the latest part of the ground's redevelopment. It is a joint project between Yorkshire and Leeds Metropolitan University and there will be teaching facilities incorporated into the new building. The pavilion will also act as a media centre and is set to include better player facilities to replace the current arrangement where both are based at the Football Stand End. Headingley is an unusual ground in that it doesn't have a traditional pavilion and the ground has been going through various stages of redevelopment in recent years. Work is due to start this November and be completed some time during 2010. "Leeds Met and ourselves have worked incredibly hard with our advisors over the past 18 months to deliver a project which satisfies everyone's needs," said Yorkshire chief executive Stewart Regan. "This development will go a long way towards helping the club retain international cricket here in Yorkshire." © Cricinfo
